Slow progress

Hi there to all my new WIP (work-in-progress for my regular, non-quilty readers) Wednesday friends!

I've been working on this quilt since, February? It's a pattern from Freckled Whimsy called Random Reflections. It was a lot of calculated sewing (and seam ripping) to make it "random".

I like how the straight line quilting (well, semi straight lines) looks in the center, but it's tiring and I think I want something different for the orange/pink part. I was thinking of doing large semi circles, covering both the pink and the aqua on the ends. Almost like water ripples. What do you think? I can't lower the feed dogs on my old sewing machine so I'm limited in how I can quilt it, no stippling (translation: loopy scribbly quilting). Any ideas?

Also? Can anyone tell me how to add a button to my blog?

the quilt is finishing up great! I love the colors!! I think semi circles would look nice on the edges.

Amy, glad you like the colours since you'll be getting some of the scraps from this quilt in your bee block :)
Fun back!! It's going to look soooo neat when you finish the lines. And, hey - if you can pick up one of those easy-glide free-motion quilty sheet thingies, it won't matter a speck that you can't drop your dogs. A lot of people leave their dogs up when they use those. Let me find a link for what I'm talking about. . .

Here's what I'm talking about. Don't know if this is the best price around: http://www.daystyledesigns.com/supremeslider.htm

I love mine!! It really does make a difference for free-motion quilting.

Great tip! Thanks Lynette!
Love this quilt! I have a hard time making things random too :)
Ooh, I just finished one of these too! check my WiP today and I link to it. Yours is looking good!
As far as a button goes, if you are putting it in your sidebar you will:
- Go to Design under your Blogger
- Choose one of the 'Add a Gadget's on the sidebar
- Choose HTML/JavaScript
- Paste your button address information in the block & Save
It should appear. While I am in the HTML part, I usually write in the name of the button because when it comes up on your design page, it will only say "HTML/JavaScript"; that way if you end up with a lot of buttons you will be able to move them around where you want them.

Hope that helps!
i really like this pattern, and funny how hard it is to make a random design. ha! I think that large circles would look great, there are a lot of things you can do with straight line quilting...zig-zags or squares too.
I adore your colors. The pinks/oranges look so great against that aqua shade!
Your quilting is great, your idea for the pink part will be lovely. I second the idea of the slippery mat, I don't bother with lowering the feed dogs, just put the mat over them.
So pretty! Love the orange fabric that looks like fingerprints.
